Andrew Robson Trio
The Andrew Robson Trio was formed while Andrew was studying
at the Australian National University in Canberra in 1990.
The original line up included drummer Nick McBride and
bassist Tony Hayes.
On moving to Sydney in 1992 Andrew and Nick were joined
by double bassist Steve Elphick, a stalwart of the creative
music scene since the early 1980s. In 1995 Nick was replaced
by the highly influential and respected drummer, Hamish
Stuart. Since then the line up has remained unchanged.
In 2003, after Andrew was awarded the Freedman Jazz fellowship,the trio the was able to accept an invitation to perform at the prestigious
Berlin Jazz Festival.
The Andrew Robson Trio has released two critically acclaimed
CDs, Scum 1997 and Sunman 2000. in 2002 they were joined
by pianist Alister Spence for the recording of a CD, On, for
the ABC's Jazz label.
The Andrew Robson Trio's third studio
album Radiola is due for release in May 2007 on the newly formed independent label, Lamplight Records.
